The Mirror Self-recognition for Robots
نویسنده
چکیده
We introduce a simple example of artificial system which aims to mimic the process of the mirror self-recognition ability limited to very few species. We assume that evolution of the species is reflected in the structure of the underlying control mechanism and design modules of the mechanism, concerning its incremental development. On this example, we also demonstrate modular architecture suitable for such task. It is based on decentralization and massive parallelism and enables incremental building of control system which is running in real-time and easily combines modules operating at different pace. Towards Robot Self-consciousness (I): Brain-Inspired Robot Mirror Neuron System Model and Its Application in Mirror Self-recognition
Mirror Self-Recognition is a well accepted test to identify whether an animal is with self-consciousness. Mirror neuron system is believed to be one of the most important biological foundation for Mirror Self-Recognition. Inspired by the biological mirror neuron system of the mammalian brain, we propose a Brain-inspired Robot Mirror Neuron System Model (Robot-MNS-Model) and we apply it to human...
متن کاملA critical review of methodology and interpretation of mirror self-recognition research in nonhuman primates.
In this paper we critically review conceptual and methodological issues of mirror self-exploration research. We conclude that: (1) mirror self-exploration provides evidence for mirror self-recognition; (2) inter- and intraspecies differences in terms of presence or absence of mirror self-recognition are not yet sufficiently clear, that is, whether its absence in species and individuals is metho...
متن کاملGraded Mirror Self-Recognition by Clark’s Nutcrackers
The traditional 'mark test' has shown some large-brained species are capable of mirror self-recognition. During this test a mark is inconspicuously placed on an animal's body where it can only be seen with the aid of a mirror. If the animal increases the number of actions directed to the mark region when presented with a mirror, the animal is presumed to have recognized the mirror image as its ...
متن کاملComparative analysis of automation of production process with industrial robots in Asia/Australia and Europe
The term "INDUSTRY 4.0" or "fourth industrial revolution" was first introduced at the fair in 2011 in Hannover. It comes from the high-tech strategy of the German Federal Government that promotes automation-computerization to complete smart automation, meaning the introduction of a method of self-automation, self-configuration, self-diagnosing and fixing the problem, knowledge and intelligent d...
متن کاملA New Approach to Self-Localization for Mobile Robots Using Sensor Data Fusion
This paper proposes a new approach for calibration of dead reckoning process. Using the well-known UMBmark (University of Michigan Benchmark) is not sufficient for a desirable calibration of dead reckoning. Besides, existing calibration methods usually require explicit measurement of actual motion of the robot. Some recent methods use the smart encoder trailer or long range finder sensors such ...
